Drivers advised of overnight closures and a full weekend closure on A63 Castle Street scheme

Drivers advised of overnight closures and a full weekend closure on A63 Castle Street scheme

A fully signed diversion will be in place via the A15, A164, A1079 and A1033 for eastbound traffic, and vice versa for westbound

A new split-level junction, a critical part of the upgrade, is being created by lowering the level of the A63 to create an underpass, with Ferensway and Commercial Road crossing the A63.

To allow the next stages of the work to be carried out safely, there will be a week of overnight closures followed by a full weekend closure of the A63 Castle Street on the following dates:

Full overnight closures (eastbound and westbound):

8pm until 6am

Monday 12 August

Tuesday 13 August

Wednesday 14 August

Thursday 15 August

Full weekend closure (eastbound and westbound):

Friday 16 August, 8pm, until Monday 19 August, 6am.

The closure will be in place between Daltry Street Flyover and Roger Millward Way.

*During the weekend closure the Market Place A63 entry slip road will remain open to provide an additional eastbound exit route from the city centre.

National Highways Project Manager Michael Upshon said: “For this phase, we will be completing works prior to Porter Street Bridge, carrying out work at Ferensway and Princes Dock Street junctions, while also working on both the east and westbound mainline carriageways.

“We are doing all we can to minimise disruption and completing a lot of essential works over this weekend.

“People can still access the city centre for parking, and all venues, events and the retail areas, with diversions in place; however, drivers are advised to plan ahead and allow extra time for their journeys.”

During the overnight and weekend work, some of our work may be noisy in some areas and we will try to complete any noisier work as early as we can. We apologise for any disruption during this complex phase of the scheme.

Diversion routes:

A fully signed diversion will be in place via the A15, A164, A1079 and A1033 for eastbound traffic, and vice versa for westbound.
