Coronavirus update: Weekend buses in Hull to change during lockdown
FROM Sunday 15 November bus company East Yorkshire will be making temporary changes to weekend buses, in response to lockdown passenger numbers.
Some weekend services in Hull which are not carrying many passengers will be changed to allow the company to allocate resources to where they are needed most.
The routes affected are Services 33/44, 56, 63, 66, 103, 104, 105, 151, 152, 153 & 154.
The new timetables for these services are available to view online now at www.eastyorkshirebuses.co.uk, and on the East Yorkshire Buses app. Those without internet access can get the new times by ringing the travel advice service BusLine on 01482 59 29 29, open Monday-Friday, 7am-7pm, and Saturdays 8am-6pm.
Ben Gilligan, East Yorkshire’s Area Director, said: “Since the second lockdown started, we’ve had to furlough a number of our bus drivers due to pre-existing medical conditions, and we also have some staff who have been asked to self-isolate. By retiming quiet journeys during the weekend, it allows us to reallocate our resources during the week onto routes that are being used by more people.”
“There will be no change to any buses on weekdays, and services outside of Hull will also remain running as normal.”
Those who are travelling during lockdown should continue to follow safety advice, including:
- Travelling at quiet times, where possible
- Washing your hands before and after travelling
- Paying by contactless or buying a ticket on the East Yorkshire Buses app, rather than paying with cash
- Wearing a face covering throughout the journey
- Staying at home and not travelling if you have any coronavirus symptoms, however mild
Normal times will return from Saturday 5 December, subject to lockdown lifting then.
