The EU’s General Product Safety Regulation, in force from 13 December 2024, covers product safety for second-hand, repaired, or online-sold goods. GB exporters must understand the regulation’s broad scope and their obligations to ensure compliance with this comprehensive legislation.

The Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) is an EU regulation aimed at reducing carbon emissions by imposing a carbon price on imports of certain goods. This ensures a level playing field between EU-produced goods and imports. The UK is also set to implement its own CBAM in 2027, making it crucial for businesses to understand these upcoming changes.

This one day course is designed to increase understanding of customs procedures for both imports and exports. It will consider the impact of the latest UK Customs Procedures and will explain in detail your obligations and responsibilities to HMRC. It will outline the duties and taxes currently payable on entry of goods into the UK and the bases of calculation, and also the need to produce a proof of removal for VAT reconciliation. The course will also discuss preferential and non-preferential origin and how to identify if your goods satisfy the rules of origin.
