Council boss issues stark warning to businesses over Covid-19 precautions
THE Deputy Chief Executive of North Lincolnshire Council, Simon Green, is appealing to businesses to adhere to the Government’s Covid-19 guidance.
In a stark warning, Mr Green said businesses in Northern Lincolnshire are being affected by Covid-19 cases and that is putting jobs and livelihoods at risk.
He told a meeting of the Chamber’s Northern Lincolnshire Area Council members before the latest lockdown was announced that there was a very clear correlation between businesses which have seen outbreaks of Covid-19 and those businesses which are not adhering to the Government guidance.
He warned business owners that it was a false economy not to follow the clear guidance as it will impact on their turnover and ultimately their profitability.
Mr Green told Chamber members that businesses which had invested in PPE and put proper procedures in place were the businesses which were now able to work at full capacity and were keeping their staff safe and fit to work.
He warned that if there was an outbreak of Covid-19 in a workplace, businesses had to notify North Lincolnshire Council and the Health and Safety Executive as part of the regulatory controls.
The Chair of the Chamber’s North Lincolnshire Area Council, Rob Bradley, of Bradley | Gauntlet Insurance Brokers, said: “Simon Green’s warning to businesses was quite stark – it makes you think of the possible consequences of getting it wrong and the effect it could have on your business.
“It really is worth investing a bit of time and money to make sure your workplace is Covid-19 secure and complies with the latest guidance”.
