Princes Quay shopping centre will be host to the first ever RAWCON 2020 event, coming to Hull in February 2020. Spearheaded by well-known local curator and radio presenter, Alan Raw, the convention sets to bring some big names to Hull as part of the spectral investigations weekend.
To kick the weekend off, organisers are calling for local creatives to enter into the open photography exhibition, which will be launched on the Friday of RAWCON 2020. Alan Raw said:
“We want to see people’s unexplained photos. Strange, cosmic and downright weird phenomena caught on camera. The best will be printed framed and exhibited in The Creative & Cultural gallery space at the convention.”
Those interested should email: submissions@Creativeandcultural.com
The three- day event will incorporate a range of activities with various talks, attractions, trade stalls and information stands, with FREE family-friendly activities in the centre’s atrium space, including Star Wars characters and LEGO displays.
Over the weekend visitors will be able to explore various topics including phenomenology, extra-terrestrial life, unexplained UFOs, Bigfoot & cryptozoology, the paranormal, divination, ancient aliens, lost civilisations and everything in-between.
The event will kick off with a fascinating talk from the well-known Australian researcher, podcaster and monster hunter, Megan Deveson, who will be talking about her experiences of using herself as bait to capture evidence of cryptids on global expeditions. With enthralling evidence of Yowies, Bigfoot and other monsters, it’s not to be missed.
On Saturday, the centre will be home to stands by well-known authors Paul Sinclair and Andrew Collins, as well as other researchers and special investigators. Visitors will be able to have a look round and take part in special VR experience and listen to talks from some of the most experienced investigators in the industry.
The evening activities will feature Yvette Fielding as the headline speaker and will include a city ghost hunt and Special Investigations tour, as well as a sky watch with Tony Topping.
John Magee, Centre Manager said:
“We’re thrilled to be hosting the first ever RAW CON event and we’re really looking forward to welcoming some of the biggest names in the industry to Princes Quay. It’s a really unique and rare opportunity for fans of the supernatural to explore these topics first-hand and speak to the experts.”
Whilst there is no age limit for this event, parents must use their own discretion and maintain responsibility for their children. There is lots to freely enjoy in the Atrium on level 1 for Under 16s. However, for the level 3 talks, some content may be considered frightening to younger children.
