Healing Manor appeal for support to provide 1,000 meals a week for charities and essential workers

Healing Manor appeal for support to provide 1,000 meals a week for charities and essential workers

Some of the team at Healing Manor who are appealing for ingredients to provide essential meals.

HEALING Manor is appealing to Northern Lincolnshire businesses to help their team provide up to 1,000 meals a week for staff and patients at charities like St Andrew's Hospice and for other essential workers.

The hotel is appealing for businesses which would be interested in becoming a key local company to support their fundraiser which is about to launch and will have an impact across the whole community.

A spokesperson for Healing Manor said: "There’s a huge crisis about to hit local charities as food supplies and the normal donations they rely on are drying up. St Andrew's Hospice are requiring our assistance to cook around 50 meals each day for patients and staff. This is mainly due to some of their team being in isolation and the vulnerability of their patients.

"We are also aiming to feed staff at the new Cambridge Park hospital on a daily basis, starting within the next few weeks, and we’re making daily and weekly efforts to support those who are out in the local community and require our help.

"Whilst we would normally utilise waste produce and our own ingredients to help feed the homeless and charities in need, due to the impact COVID-19 has had on our business, this is not viable. However we have a small team living and working on site, isolating together which means we can dedicate the time, skills and additional overheads to cooking meals on a mass-production scale. We also have a team of volunteers at the ready to cook in an isolated on-site kitchen and also help deliver meals.

"We would also normally rely on ingredients being donated by local and larger suppliers, however due to the financial impact which has also hit these businesses, they are not in the position they were in pre-COVID-19 to support our pledge to cook up to 1,000 free meals for North East Lincolnshire on a weekly basis. There are however businesses such as Ish Fish and Swales who are able to donate a set amount of ingredients, those companies that do will be receiving a huge thank you across all of our channels.

"Any support you’re able to give us would be hugely appreciated, as we're looking to get this project off the ground and help those that we can, collectively as a town and business community.
