MP appeals for old laptops to help children study at home during crisis
HULL MP Emma Hardy is asking for people to donate their old or unwanted laptops to schools to help pupils study at home during the Coronavirus crisis.
The message from Emma says:
I hope you are all keeping safe and well.
I’m wondering if you can help me with a project I am currently setting up with two schools in Hull. It became apparent chatting to school staff and parents that a great number of children across the city do not have access to a home computer. In this current climate these pupils are greatly missing out on educational opportunities many others are getting online.
I am working with Newington Academy and Chiltern Primary School to recycle old laptops and send them out to these pupils to use in the coming weeks. When the laptops are dropped off at the schools they are going to be cleaned and refurbished by volunteers before they are offered to families.
I would greatly appreciate any support you can give to donating any of your old laptops or by volunteering any of your staff to help clean and refurbish them if they have those specific skills.
Thank you for any support you can give to this project, which will hopefully help many families across Hull.
Best wishes to you and your family and I look forward to hearing from you.
If you can help please email emma.hardy.mp@parliament.uk if they can help.
