North Point Shopping Centre: more than a retail destination
WITH physical shops shackled during multiple lockdowns, it’s fair to say retail has faced huge challenges recently.
But North Point Shopping Centre - situated at the heart of the Bransholme community - has used the pandemic to underline its role as more than a retail destination.
Fast approaching its landmark 50th anniversary and celebrating 48 years in 2021, North Point Shopping Centre has served as a vital community resource throughout the pandemic.
Many essential stores remained open, soldiering on to serve a community that depended on them more than ever before; not just for everyday essentials but as a lifeline to a semblance of normality for local residents.
After the events of the past 18 months, North Point Shopping Centre - which is home to more than 70 retail units across 217,000 sq ft and 750 free car parking spaces - is already building back better, with the launch of a newly refurbished market hall, a transformed pub and a steady flow of incoming tenants.
The market hall has been rejuvenated with fresh flooring, new signage, and the creation of open space at the back of the hall to present a food-focused offering.
Meanwhile, the former Foredyke pub has been reborn as The Sutton Arms with a fresh look and revamped interior after four years out of action, much to the delight of locals.
The centre’s strong browser-to-buyer conversion rate means that three-in four visitors to North Point Shopping Centre will make a purchase, whilst two-in-five shoppers drop by more than twice a week, contributing to six million visitors in a typical year.
Louise Smith, Centre Manager at North Point Shopping Centre, commented: “As of May 2021, our monthly footfall was up 4.1% for the year-to-date and the constant improvements we’re making around the centre means North Point’s place as a popular community resource will only be cemented further.”
