Rollits achieve with new cyber security protection accreditation

HULL law firm Rollits is now one of a handful of law firms in the region to hold the Government-approved Cyber Essentials Plus accreditation.

Cyber Essentials is a cyber security standard which identifies the security controls organisations must have in place within their IT systems to have confidence that they have a basic level of cyber security and are mitigating the most common internet-based threats.

To be awarded this certification – the highest Cyber Essentials standard available – an organisation’s systems must be independently tested by an external body.

Mike Wasling, Director of Information & Technology at Rollits, says: “We’re delighted to have achieved Cyber Essentials Plus certification as we take the security of our internal systems extremely seriously.

“Protecting our systems and our data is really important to us and we implement highly robust security methods to ensure that our clients have confidence in working with us.”

Rollits Managing Partner Ralph Gilbert, who is a board member of the Humber Business Resilience Forum continues: “Cyber-crime and online fraud is becoming more prevalent and sophisticated and cyber-criminals are finding new and increasingly ingenious ways to gain access to systems and steal data.

“As a law firm, we deal with highly confidential data from our clients on a daily basis. Every day brings news of potential and increasingly sophisticated threats to our business, and it is vital that our security remains robust.

“Cyber Essentials Plus is part of our overall strategy to ensure that our clients can have absolute confidence in entrusting their data, money and information to us”

In addition, in August the firm was also reaccredited for Lexcel following an AMV 1 assessment conducted against version 6 of the Lexcel Practice Management Standard.

Lexcel is a recognised accreditation scheme designed specifically for law firms to ensure that required standards of excellence in areas such as client care, case management and risk management are met.

To be awarded and maintain the Lexcel accreditation a practice must apply annually and go through a rigorous assessment to ensure the required standards of excellence are maintained year after year.

Ralph Gilbert continues “Once again, we were delighted to be awarded Lexcel, the Law Society's legal practice quality mark which we have held since 1999. Our assessment summary included a high number of Areas of Good Practice, across every Lexcel section assessed, where the firm has exceeded the requirements of Lexcel to a significant extent.

“Client service is something we take very seriously and this accreditation demonstrates our overall commitment to quality across this firm.

“Lexcel, along with Cyber Essentials Plus validate our commitment to client care and illustrates that risk management within the firm is a top priority”
