A LAW firm has raised £7051.55 for local infant loss charity since May 2017, helping charity to provide memory boxes for the Maternity Unit at Hull Royal Infirmary’s Women and Children’s Hospital.

Hull law firm Bridge McFarland hosted the Abbie’s Fund Spring Ball at the Country Park, Hessle. Abbie’s Fund is a local charity established to support families who have suffered the loss of a baby. The charity use their proceeds to provide memory boxes for the Maternity Unit at Hull Royal Infirmary’s Women and Children’s Hospital, something that brings comfort to families at a very painful time. The charity was also involved in the recruitment of a Bereavement Midwife at Hull Women & Children’s Hospital and they continue to pay a percentage of her salary to enable her post to be full time rather than part time.

Bridge McFarland select a new ‘Charity of the Year’ to support at the beginning of May each year, over the last 12 months they have taken part in sponsored cycling events, bake sales, walks, and internal fundraising projects all in aid of Abbie’s Fund – their total with the added proceeds from the Spring Ball is an impressive £7,051.55.

The Spring Ball was well attended, attracting local businesses and supporters of the charity. Guests were greeted in style by show girls provided by Pastiche before enjoying a two course meal, live entertainment from singer Paul Eden and local band One Speed Go. The evening also included a balloon raffle and auction by Hull Auction Services.

Solicitor Rachel Miskin has taken a key roll in the organisation of the Spring Ball “We are very pleased to have had the support from our local business community, and to have had wonderful feedback from the attendees.

“A good chunk of the fundraising total was made up by guests digging deep and taking part in the auction on the night, and we would like to deeply thank them for doing so.

“The event wouldn’t have been a success without the generous donations we received. We were overwhelmed by peoples kindness and generosity as all of our prizes for our raffle and auction were donated.  We have also had generous local vendors pitch in to provide their services. We would like to thank Yorkshire Photo Studio, The Glam Doll and Pure Events who attended on the evening to help make the charity ball a success. We would also like to thank JZ Flowers, Airy Fairies, Elliegantly Made and Style My Venue whose contributions helped make the venue look fantastic.

“It has been a real pleasure working with Abbie’s Fund over the last 12 months, the cause is close to all our hearts and we are proud to know that our work will help Katy and the Charity to carry on doing what they do”.

Katy Cowell the founder of Abbie’s Fund thanked the Firm saying that they “have had a fantastic year as Bridge McFarland’s chosen charity, and it has been a real pleasure working in partnership with them raising both money and awareness for our charity.

“Their support and drive has been amazing.   The year culminated with their Abbie’s Fund Spring Ball which was an absolutely incredible night and a huge success all round.”

“Guests were wowed from the moment they walked in to the function room and the surprises and entertainment continued right through the night with dancing girls, balloon raffle, auction and more.”

“We are so grateful to the Bridge McFarland charity committee for organising and hosting such an amazing event and for all their support throughout the past year.”
