Three-course meal on the menu as legal team serves up lunchtime charity treat

Three-course meal on the menu as legal team serves up lunchtime charity treat

FROM the legal arena to the kitchen – budding chefs from Wilkin Chapman solicitors served up a lunchtime treat, raising more than £1,000 for Grimsby’s centre for rough sleepers.

Having just marked its first birthday in its new home, The Hope Centre, in Hope Street, Harbour Place was taken over for the lunchtime fundraiser, which was organised by Wilkin Chapman’s charity committee.

Led by firm Partner and Harbour Place trustee Jane Eatock, a generous donation of fish from Alfred Enderby enabled the chefs to create a three-course meal for 32 supporters. Together the meal, and accompanying raffle, raised £1,100 for charity funds and the success delighted Jane.

This event was the first in a series for Harbour Place, with a team from Hodson Architects taking on the ‘Come Dine with Me’ challenge in November.

“This was something very different and an opportunity, not only to raise vital funds for The Hope Centre, but to raise awareness and invite people along who may not have visited before. They were able to enjoy a lunch, but also look at what everyone at Harbour Place is achieving. It is not just about providing shelter and food, but also at trying to support those in need in trying to help in the long-term,” said Jane.

Opened in the autumn of 2018, The Hope Centre accommodates 17 rough sleepers at any one time with the main aim of offering ‘true and lasting change’ for clients. It is open every night of the year.
