FORRESTER BOYD Chartered Accountants is delighted to announce management promotions for six of its staff.  Rewarding their commitment and hard work, Alex Sawden, Vicky Lamb, Mike Hall, Phoebe Cranmer, Katie Reeson and Emma Millson all took up their new posts from 1 April 2022.

Alex Sawden works in the Grimsby office and has been appointed as a Manager. He joined Forrester Boyd in 2014 following attaining a first-class BSc Degree in Accounting and Finance from BPP University in London.  Alex specialises in providing audit services for large clients including groups, both locally and nationally. Working across a variety of sectors, Alex has a particular specialism in the food sector and a keen interest in the renewables sector being a board member of the Grimsby Renewables Partnership.

Vicky Lamb, also based in the Grimsby office celebrates becoming a Manager. Following graduating from the University of Liverpool in 2009, Vicky joined the firm in 2011, qualifying as a chartered accountant in 2014. Dealing with company accounts and tax for SME’s, sole traders and partnerships along with individual tax returns, Vicky works with clients across a broad spectrum of sectors.  As well as supporting clients, Vicky is a volunteer with Girlguiding, being part of a team running a Brownie unit in the Grimsby area. She is also a keen supporter of GTFC.

Also in the Grimsby office is Mike Hall who has also been appointed as a Manager. Following joining the firm in 2012, Mike went on to qualify with the ACCA in 2018. He specialises in audit and internal audits, predominantly in the Education and Charity sectors. Keeping close links with the education sector, Mike is an Enterprise Adviser at Franklin College and sits on the local advisory board for the Centre of Professional Development. Mike is another avid football fan who runs the Laceby Football Club which is now in its 3rd season.

Rounding up the Grimsby promotions is Phoebe Cranmer who has been promoted to Assistant Manager. Phoebe joined the firm as a trainee in 2015, qualifying as a chartered accountant in 2020. A mentor to those looking to start a career in accountancy, Phoebe works closely with the ICAEW promoting the AAT and ACA Study routes. Part of Phoebe’s new role will be helping to head-up and grow the firm’s outsourcing team. In her spare time, apart from planning her wedding, Phoebe enjoys yoga.

Moving to the firm’s Louth office, Katie Reeson has been appointed as Assistant Manager. Joining the firm in 2015, Katie qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 2019. Katie works as part of the large Academies team. She is regularly seen visiting clients at their premises and enjoys building strong relationships with the School Business Managers. Through audit visits to schools, Katie enjoys getting a real feel for the school and its environment for learning. In her spare time, Katie loves to cook, then working off her food at the gym.

Last but by no means least, is Emma Millson who has been appointed as an Assistant Manager. Emma joined the firm in 2014 following studying for her A-Levels at Tollbar Sixth Form. She went on to qualify as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 2020. Emma works within the busy agriculture team at the Louth office as well as dealing with a varied portfolio of clients. In her spare time, Emma likes to get out and about, walking in the Lincolnshire countryside as well as spending time with her family and friends.

All of these employees started with Forrester Boyd on its highly coveted Trainee Accountancy programme and prove that the opportunities really are there if you work hard and strive to achieve them.

These promotions reinforce Forrester Boyd’s internal development opportunities and the success of its trainee accountancy programme with all five starting their careers with the firm as trainees. In fact 14 out of the firm’s 17 partners have come through the trainee accountancy route.  Speaking of the new manager appointments, Philip George, HR partner said, “I am so pleased to see more of our homegrown talent rising through the ranks.  I personally started my career with Forrester Boyd on our trainee accountancy programme so it is proof that the opportunities available for career progression are second to none.  We provide our staff with wide ranging training and development opportunities allowing them to hone their skills and progress within the firm.  We have a strong internal mentoring ethos. With over 40 trainees currently in the firm at different stages of their careers, help is always on hand along the way with the understanding and support from fellow staff and others at different levels. This has proven that it is helping to shape the futures of some of our region’s youth and provide opportunities on their doorstep. Who knows, maybe they could become our partners of the future.”

Forrester Boyd is one of the leading independent chartered accountancy practices in Lincolnshire and the Humber region, with over 150 staff based at offices at Grimsby, Louth, Scunthorpe, Skegness, Beverley and Hull.
