British Steel to be used in prestigious London projects following new partnership with William Hare

British Steel to be used in prestigious London projects following new partnership with William Hare

UK STEEL will be used in some of London’s most prestigious new buildings after William Hare, one of the country’s leading structural contractors, agreed a new partnership with British Steel.
The family-run company of William Hare, which dates back to the 1880s, has won global acclaim for helping transform skylines across the world.
In London, William Hare structural steel was used in the construction of the 36-floor ‘Walkie Talkie’ skyscraper and the company also designed, fabricated and erected the roof in the London Olympic Stadium Transformation project. Ongoing developments now include the 40 storey skyscraper at 100 Bishopsgate  and ‘The Scalpel’ at 52 Lime Street - both will include steel manufactured by British Steel.
David Hodgkiss OBE, William Hare’s CEO said: “We are delighted to have agreed our contract with British Steel, ensuring that we continue to supply market-leading products to our customers.
“The construction market can be very demanding and William Hare, and in turn our clients, demand all the materials we use meet the highest specifications.
“It is also pleasing to be able to support UK manufacturing, however the main reason we are using British Steel is because of the quality of the steel they manufacture.”
British Steel was launched on June 1 after it was purchased from Tata Steel by the family investment office Greybull Capital.
And British Steel’s Commercial Director, Peter Hogg, said: “We’re all proud that William Hare selected British Steel to form this type of partnership, it is a great show of confidence in our employees and their capability.
“William Hare has a global reputation for excellence, the evidence of which can be seen in the skylines of cities throughout the world.
“At British Steel we pride ourselves on delivering the products our customers need, when they need them, and our highly-skilled teams are dedicated to ensuring we not only make world class steel but deliver a world class service.
“The sections market is highly competitive so to be working in partnership with William Hare can only be good for both businesses.”
The steel is made at British Steel’s Scunthorpe site and the biggest sections are rolled at its Teesside Beam Mill. William Hare engineers, fabricates, delivers and erects the structural steelwork onsite, meeting the demanding schedules of clients - wherever they are located in the world.
100 Bishopsgate is a 40-storey office tower being developed by Brookfield and constructed by Multiplex in the heart of the city of London. The impressive development will transition from a parallelogram at its base to a rectangle at its top. British Steel is supplying William Hare with 3,500 tonnes of steel for this project.
The Scalpel is a 36-storey office building located on Lime Street in London. British Steel is supplying William Hare with 1,000 tonnes of steel for this project.
