New scheme aims to help young people into work
ONGO has launched a pilot traineeship scheme for young people to support them into work.
The scheme will see 16-18 year olds undertaking a placement up to 12 weeks long, offering quality work experience with businesses in the local area to provide valuable work experience and opportunities.
This pilot scheme will run until July 2022, with the aim of securing additional funding if successful, to be able to continue offering placements longer term.
Traineeships will be in the catering & hospitality sector, maintenance businesses and those with administration & customer service roles. As well as hands on work experience, Ongo will provide each trainee with employability and interpersonal skills including CV writing, interview prep and job searching alongside other relevant training.
Whilst the traineeship is unpaid, we can provide financial support to help with financial barriers faced by individuals.
Maryanne Fitzgerald, Enterprise & Engagement Manager at Ongo, said: “These traineeships will be a fantastic opportunity for young people to gain valuable work experience, learn about potential progression routes and to get a valuable insight into the labour market and the opportunities available to them.
“We will be working with local organisations to provide a range of traineeships in different sectors to ensure there is something for everyone.”
Do you know someone aged between 16-18 that might benefit from a traineeship? Check out the Ongo website www.ongo.co.uk/traineeships for more information.
