Parking discount drives Dove House fundraising campaign
A PARTNERSHIP which offers parking discounts for drivers as part of a campaign to support Dove House Hospice is now raising more than £1,000 every month for the charity.
APCOA Parking (UK) Limited, which launched the venture in July 2016, is urging more motorists to sign up for its season ticket scheme and take the number of supporters past the 100 milestone.
After totting up the contribution for June, APCOA calculated it had raised almost £12,250 since their partnership with Dove House Hospice began in 2015.
Around 90 motorists have signed up for their monthly season ticket using the special discount code DH4254 to pay £35 per month at King William House car park in Hull and trigger the donation of £5 every month.
Adam Richards, Area Commercial Manager for APCOA, said: “Buying a new season ticket has never been easier thanks to APCOA’s online purchasing platform and use of the Dove House discount code, and it is with great pride that I can confirm that the scheme raised £12,244.54 to the end of June.
“We have about 90 people using the service and we hope the success of the first 12 months will help us reach the magical mark and raise even more money for the Hospice.”
Jethro Shearring, Fundraising Coordinator at Dove House Hospice, said the venture builds on the success of an initial free parking week organised by APCOA to raise funds.
He added: “It costs £6.7 million to run the hospice each year and we are totally reliant on the generosity of individuals, community groups and businesses to be able to continue to offer our services free of charge. Adam has been absolutely instrumental in forging one of the hospice’s key corporate partnerships with several campaigns that have impacted both the hospice and the wider community in general.
“As well as raising a fantastic amount of money, the publicity received from the schemes and feedback from customers and businesses alike has been extremely positive.
“In my role as Corporate Fundraising Coordinator I have also spoken to a number of city centre businesses who have been extremely impressed with the partnership. On behalf of myself, the staff, patients and their families at the hospice we cannot thank Adam and APCOA enough for their support.
“A fantastic amount of money has been raised for the hospice throughout the partnership. The contributions from APCOA and the customers have allowed us to make a positive difference to the lives of so many in Hull and East Yorkshire at their time of greatest need.”
