Commodore to tell Chamber Expo Lunch guests how Royal Navy is protecting international trade and UK interests
WITH just two weeks to go before Chamber Expo 2024 opens its doors, we are pleased to announce Commodore Thomas Knowles from the Royal Navy will be our keynote speaker.
Commodore Knowles will talk about the Navy's role in keeping our shipping lanes open and defending the UK's interests at home and abroad, its work in helping to prevent the Houthi attacks on commercial and naval shipping in the Red Sea and maintaining our international trade and supply chains, which, as we have seen, affect business and lead to raw material shortages, price rises and inflation in the UK when they are interrupted by international conflicts.
Commodore Knowles will also talk about the Navy's wider role, in the Black Sea monitoring the war between Ukraine and Russia, its humanitarian tasks in the Middle East, keeping shipping lanes open in the South China Sea, Britain's new aircraft carriers and how the Royal Navy Reserve fits into the bigger picture on the global stage.
There will also be an opportunity to ask questions at the end of what promises to be a fascinating insight into the modern-day role of the Royal Navy.
The lunch is free for Chamber Expo visitors to attend, but places are strictly limited, so you must book to reserve your seat. rb.gy/6yl0v7
Chamber Expo is always an integral part of Humber Business Week – and this year we are joining forces with the Ministry of Defence to host their Military Expo.
We will also be hosting our second International Trade Conference as part of Chamber Expo 2024 on Tuesday, June 4th, and this year’s venue will be the Mercure Hull Grange Park Hotel, Willerby, Hull, HU10 6EB.
The Chamber Motor Show is also charging ahead and will provide a display of largely electric cars and vans in the outside space, alongside a display of military vehicles, which is sure to mobilise lots of attention. Among the motor dealers confirmed so far are Evans Halshaw Citroen and Vauxhall Hull, who will be bringing along some of their latest models, including the Vauxhall Corsa Electric and a Vivaro Van, while Citroen will be represented by an e-C4 and an e-Berlingo van. Other dealers confirmed so far include Stratstone BMW and Mini, Riverside Motor Group with a Polestar EV and Listers Mercedes-Benz.
Come and find out how the Reserves, or former military personnel can benefit you and your business. 150 Regiment of the Royal Logistic Corp and the Reserve Forces’ and Cadets’ Association for Yorkshire and The Humber will be waiting to chat to any potential recruits, and we will also have some displays of the latest equipment inside the exhibition space.
Bookings are going well and can be made through the Chamber’s website rb.gy/b06pk9 or by contacting David Hooper or Kay Hudson who will be happy to help – so don’t miss out, get yourself booked in today, or just turn up on the day and have a look around.
Chamber Expo 2024 hosts all kinds of businesses from both banks of the Humber. We would like to thank our sponsors for their support with this year’s event, so special mentions go to AaGlobal which has supported the Expo since the firm expanded to the region, and Hull What’s On who are again partnering with us on this event.
This year’s standholders can look forward to a hot buffet lunch in the Brasserie and electricity is included in the price of the stand, while parking and entry to Chamber Expo 2024 will be complimentary.
The Chamber’s famous Free Expo Speed Networking is happening from 2.45pm in the City of Culture room, providing a great opportunity to meet some potential new customers from around the region.
Members and non-members alike are welcome to book a stand and everyone is invited to visit – you don’t have to be a Chamber member to exhibit, or to attend on the day. The Chamber’s ever-popular Expo, with its VIP Lunch, provides a great opportunity for networking and making introductions to potential suppliers of everything from cakes to vans.
