Could you be a College Governor?
EAST Riding College is seeking new governors to bring a variety of strategic skills and experience to the College.
The College’s governing body is particularly looking for new members who have an interest in education and experience working at a strategic level.
Simon Wright, Chair of the Corporation said: “We are keen to hear from passionate individuals with time to commit and an interest in achieving high standards of learner achievements. The successful candidates will serve for four years as members of our Board, playing a vital role in shaping the education of thousands of people of all ages, every year. Being a governor is a fantastic opportunity to give something back to the local community and I would encourage those with an interest to apply, come and meet us and find out what makes it so rewarding.”
Most governors attend 8-12 formal meetings a year but also have the opportunity to attend training, networking events and College events, such as staff conferences, learner focus groups and award ceremonies.
Governors meetings are held first thing in the morning or in the early evening, mainly at the Beverley campus. Although a voluntary role, members are encouraged to claim for travel and subsistence whilst on College business.
