Chairman of the organising committee, Garrey Haase, who first come up with the idea of launching the awards ten years ago to celebrate the successes of businesses in the Goole and Howdenshire area, said: “We were hoping for a really high number of entries with it being the tenth anniversary of the awards and we were not disappointed. Our independent panel of judges had a really tough time whittling down the entries to come up with their shortlist; we’ve even introduced an additional award category for the self-employed and micro businesses because we had so many strong entries from businesses fitting that criteria. It’s a sign of just how many exciting new start-ups and micro businesses are being established and thriving locally.

“On behalf of the committee, I’d like to thank everyone who took the time to enter and thank our judges for their hard work going through the huge volume of entries. We’re now very much looking forward to finding out who the winners are at the tenth Goole and Howdenshire Business Excellences Awards ceremony in February!”

As in previous years, the judges also chose one of the shortlisted finalists to receive the Overall Business of the Year Award (sponsored by Link Agency) and the organising committee has nominated an individual to receive the Tim Richardson Lifetime Achievement Award.

The black tie awards ceremony, which is organised in partnership with the Hull and Humber Chamber of Commerce, will be held at Goole High School and is hosted by the BBC’s Harry Gration, who has compered the event since it was first launched. It will take place on Friday 21 February, 2020.
