About the event

Chambers Trade Academy

As part of our commitment to support businesses in Greater Manchester to navigate their international trade journey, we are pleased to launch a series of free virtual sessions in partnership with a selected group of UK Chambers across the country. The purpose of these sessions is to provide general insights into exporting, importing, customs as well as keep traders up to date with the latest changes in regulations and provide tips on how to grow globally.

About the Session

The EU’s General Product Safety Regulation came into force on the 13th of December last year and it has far-reaching implications for multiple actors within a product’s supply chain. With few product exceptions, the regulation aims to regulate the safety of goods not covered by existing EU standards and CE marking, as well as some that are already regulated but not when supplied via online marketplaces or distance sales. The regulation is highly comprehensive in nature with a scope extending beyond new products placed on the EU marketplace to incorporate second-hand products or products that are repaired, reconditioned, or recycled. Few GB exporters of consumer goods to the EU and Northern Ireland are untouched by this regulation, so a thorough understanding of obligations and how to ensure compliance is essential.
