We are delighted to announce our guest speaker for this event is Mika Paljakka Senior Vice President UK & Ireland for Metsä Tissue, which in September 2023 announced plans to build a new, state-of-the-art tissue paper mill in Goole.
Mika will provide an introduction to Metsä Group and its tissue paper business, Metsä Tissue, and he will update you on how Metsä’s plans for the new tissue paper mill are progressing.
Metsä’s plans represent a landmark investment worth several hundreds of millions of pounds. They would support the region’s huge growth potential by creating around 400 local jobs as well as thousands of indirect jobs across the supply chain and the local economy. The planned new mill in Goole would bring locally produced, sustainable tissue products to the UK, increasing its self-sufficiency in the sector by more than 30 percent.
Mika joined Metsä Group in 2000 and has held senior management positions in all Metsä’s subsidiaries in Finland, the United States and now in the UK. He has lived in the UK for the last three years.
Metsä is a Finnish forest industry group, that operates across international markets and its tissue paper business, Metsä Tissue, is one of the leading tissue paper suppliers in Europe.
