Understanding Commodity Codes (am) - Online

DO you understand what a Commodity Code is? Do you know how to find out what your Commodity Code(s) should be? Commodity Codes dictate your duty rating as well as alerting you to any import or export restrictions.

This half-day training course covers all the key elements of the Commodity Code. The course will highlight commercial implications of the correct use of the Tariff/Commodity code and why it is so important to have a good understanding of them, which will help towards successful and efficient global business.

This course guides people through the process and its paperwork steadily and methodically so that everyone can arrive at an accurate HS code for their product with confidence and peace of mind.

COURSE PROGRAMME:

The layout of the Customs ‘Tariff’

How Commodity Codes are organised

Using the Tariff

Applying the correct code

Penalties for incorrect declarations

Practical exercises for a wide range of products

COURSE OUTCOME: At the end of this “hands-on” course – with many coding exercises – candidates leave with a solid experience of coding a variety of products, including their own range and can approach further HS coding challenges with complete confidence.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND? The course is designed for anyone in the organisation who might be called upon to contribute to a correct description of goods traded internationally for both export and import declarations. This can range from complete beginners to experienced operators who feel the need to refresh their knowledge. It is also suitable for management staff whose role requires supervision or checking of sensitive Customs declarations.

This course is accredited by the British Chambers of Commerce and upon completion of an online multiple choice assessment, delegates will receive a BCC accredited certificate, subject to a pass mark of 50%, plus one credit towards the Foundation Award in International Trade.  You will need to achieve 6 credits to be awarded with the Foundation Award, a nationally recognised qualification.
