Chamber looking forward to welcoming Catapult to historic Port Office building
THE Chamber's Northern Lincolnshire Manager Anne Tate has welcomed the news that Catapult will be moving in next to the Chamber's home in the historic Port Office building.
Anne (pictured right) said: "It will be great to have some new faces sharing the floor where the Chamber's Grimsby office is based and we are proud to be sharing offices with such an innovative organisation in the renewables energy industry."
Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult has leased the first floor of the town’s Port Office from ABP Humber, who own the building, for five years, with the elite technical and innovation organisation bringing forward its Offshore Wind Operations and Maintenance Centre of Excellence.
The Grade II listed building off Lockhill, which will be home to around 70 Catapult staff, is an architecturally-acclaimed landmark, replicated alongside Grimsby’s Dock Tower in Legoland.
Ben George, ORE Catapult’s general manager for the Humber, said: “We’re very excited to be building our presence in Grimsby, the largest offshore wind operations and maintenance port in the country – and to be based in the instantly recognisable ABP Port Office is ideal.
“The operations and maintenance of offshore renewable energy plant represents a huge opportunity for the UK, and this move allows us to work more closely with the industry, jointly developing the innovation that will keep the UK at the cutting edge of this rapidly growing sector. We look forward to collaborating with ABP in the coming years to grow Grimsby’s already world-leading position in delivering our low-carbon energy future.”
The centre will engage with all UK offshore renewable energy clusters, academia and government to focus on innovation and development of best practice – demonstrating the UK’s capability to remain the global leader in offshore renewables operations and maintenance.
