Here's the latest help and support update from North East Lincolnshire Council

NORTH East Lincolnshire Council has updated the help and advice it can offer.

Stay home. Protect the NHS. Save lives.

North East Lincolnshire Council’s response to the COVID-19 crisis is evolving all the time in line with the latest advice from the Government and Public Health England.

Our services

·         Bin crews have changed the way they work to help keep the service running during the COVID-19 pandemic, but there are some delays to garden waste and recycling collections. If we don’t get to you, please put your bin or boxes out again the next day and we’ll return as soon as we can. Read more about precautions we’ve adopted on our website at https://www.nelincs.gov.uk/covid-19-bin-collections/.

·         Government grants are available to help about 3,000 businesses in the area through the COVID-19 emergency. More details and how to apply at https://www.nelincs.gov.uk/covid-19-advice-and-guidance/#1585153513392-bec46bd2-0cb9.

·         We’re asking landlords, letting agents and property managers if they can help provide accommodation for social workers and other key staff. Many key workers who live out of the area have been left without accommodation due to the disruption caused by the virus. If you can help there are more details on our website at https://www.nelincs.gov.uk/a-plea-for-accommodation-for-key-workers-in-the-area/

·         Some households will receive a second, updated Council tax bill with a discount of £150. This is part of the Government’s Council tax hardship fund. More details on our website https://www.nelincs.gov.uk/covid-19/

·         The crematorium is closed to the public on weekdays and at weekends. It is only open to people attending funerals. Opening times at council cemeteries in Scartho Road and Cleethorpes are limited from 12pm to 6pm until further notice. This will allow staff to carry out essential duties and keep to social distancing rules. Funerals are running but only immediate family can attend. All visitors must abide by social distancing rules at all times to reduce the risk of spreading the virus.

·         There’s so much going on at the moment, we’ve published some advice about taking care of your mental health at https://www.nelincs.gov.uk/coronavirus-covid-19-taking-care-of-your-mental-wellbeing/. Stay well.

Council services affected by COVID-19 are listed at https://www.nelincs.gov.uk/coronavirus. This page is updated regularly.

Help in your community

We are working across the public, community and voluntary sectors to offer advice and support and to get help to people who need it. We have witnessed an amazing community response to the challenges created by COVID-19. Working together is our best way through the challenges now and ahead.

·         If you are thinking of setting up a group of local volunteers to help neighbours please check online to see if any local groups have already been set up, and contact them first. Alternatively, contact your local community centre or charity to see if you can support their work. There’s more advice about starting a group at https://www.sectorsupportnel.org.uk/.

·         If you are already involved in a community group that is helping to support older, vulnerable or isolated people during the COVID-19 response, please let us know about the support you can offer and the resources you need by completing an online survey at https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/XPYF7BG. Any businesses that want to offer their support are also welcome to complete the survey or get in touch with Sector Support.

Bringing all of this information together will allow us to organise a better response between us all.
